Hi friends, Microsoft security essential and Internet explorer both are free, and can be downloaded from microsoft site, But how many of you have installed them. Because you don’t trust microsoft products for virus security and browsing. But now microsoft has done some implementation in these products. Yesterday I downloaded and installed both software on my PC and both are working well, even I am writing this post in IE9.

Internet Explorer 9- IE9 look like google chrome, What to say about IE9 every browser now comes in the shape of Google chrome, No toolbar, No bigger space consuming menu and fast. IE9 is the first browser from microsoft that I liked otherwise I hate IE(Always show the message IE is not responding and crashed)
Microsoft has done some implement to make it stable and fast after a long time when they saw themselves disappeared from browser market.Tab management in IE9 has a few new touches, including the ability to tear off tabs and drag them into a new window or dock them to the side of the display. You will find ask.com and bing as a default search provider, One of them is full of ads and second doesn’t work well. You will find many new features when you use it like pinned shortcut or warning in the bottom. The most important thing microsoft says It supports HTML 5. Let’s wait  for a stable release.

Convert FAT or FAT32 File system into NTFS

You can increase the performance of your computer using NTFS (New Technology File System) hard drive volume with windows XP, because this advance file system provides some extra features, for example security, reliability, file encryption and Compression features.


But if you are still using old file systems like FAT or FAT32, you can covert it into NTFS with a simple command. The interesting thing is that you can convert your hard drive volumes file system without losing data on the drive.

Convert FAT or FAT32 File system into NTFS :

Follow the giving steps to convert FAT or FAT32 partition to NTFS: 
  • First go to Start button then click on Run option.
  • Now type here �CMD� and press Ok to open command prompt.
  • At the command prompt type convert drive letter name: /fs:ntfs 
  • For example if you want to convert drive E to NTFS then the command will be �convert e: /fs:ntfs�.
  • Now restart your computer and enjoy NTFS features, but keep in mind you cannot covert back it to FAT or FAT32 again.

    Create your computer password recovery disk

    If you are using Windows XP, you can create the windows password reset disk. This password-reset disk will help you to log on to your computer when you forget the computer password.But if you forget your windows password and don’t have any password recovery or password reset disk then you will have to reinstall the windows XP on your computer again, because there is no easy way to break the windows password. 

    Create your computer password recovery disk for Windows XP :-

    • First click on start button to open control panel and then click here on User accounts option. 
    • In User accounts dialog box, double click on the account name for you want to create the password-reset disk. 
    • Click on Prevent a forgotten password under the Related Tasks option on the left side of User accounts dialog box. 
    • Now Welcome page of forgotten password wizard will open and press Next button. 
    • Here insert a new formatted floppy disk in your computer floppy disk drive and press Next button.
    • Now type your current password and press Next to finish.

      On the whole Internet, there are approximately more than 150 million active websites up and running. As a result, it often becomes a real challenge for the users to identify safe websites that are trustworthy and reputed. Have you ever wondered to know the reputation of a website before placing the order? Need to know whether a given website is child safe? Well, here are some of the ways to identify safe websites on the Web.
       

      1. WOT or Web Of Trust (www.mywot.com):

      WOT is a great place to test the reputation of your favorite website. WOT gives real-time ratings for every website based on the feedback that it gets from millions of trustworthy users across the globe and trusted sources, such as phishing and malware blacklists.       As shown in the above snapshot, the reputation of each website is shown in terms of 4 components where green means excellent, yellow warns users to be cautious and red indicates potential danger.
       
      Trustworthiness signifies the overall safety of the website. A poor rating may indicate that the site is associated with threats like Internet scams, phishing, identity theft risks and malware. For more information on phishing, you may refer my other post on how to identify and avoid phishing scams.
       
      Vendor reliability tells you whether a given site is safe for carrying out buy and sell transactions with it. An excellent rating indicates superior customer satisfaction while a poor rating indicates possible scam or bad shopping experience.
       
      Privacy indicates about �to what extent the site respects the privacy of it�s users and protects their personal identity and data�.
       
      Child Safety indicates whether the content of a given site is appropriate for children. Site contents like sexual material, nudity and vulgarity will have a poor Child Safety rating.
       
      In most cases, the WOT ratings are found to be highly accurate. To check the reputation of any given website, just visit www.mywot.com type-in the address of your favorite website and click on �Check now�. This tool alone can tell you a lot about the reputation and safety level of a website. However, in addition to this, I am giving you another 3 handy tools to identify safe websites on the Web.
       
      2. McCafee SiteAdvisor:

      McCafee SiteAdvisor is a free tool that is available as a browser add-on. It adds safety ratings to your browser and search engine results. You can download it fromwww.siteadvisor.com.
       
      3. StopBadware:

      Using this tool, you can check whether a given site is said to have involved in malware activity in the past. To check this, go tohttp://www.stopbadware.org/home/reportsearch and enter the URL or domain name of a website and click on �Search Clearinghouse �. If the search does not return any result, that means the site was never involved in any of the malware activity in the past.
       

      4. Google Pagerank:

      Google PageRank is another great tool to check the reputation and popularity of a website. The PageRank tool rates every webpage on a scale of 1 to 10 which indicates Google�s view of importance of the page. If a given website has a PageRank of less than 3, then it is said to be less popular among the other sites on the Internet.
       
      However, PageRank will only tell you how much popular a given website is and has nothing to do with the safety level of a website. So, this tool alone cannot be used to evaluate a website�s safety and other factors.
       
      PageRank feature is available as a part of Google Toolbar. You can install Google Toolbar from http://www.google.com/intl/en_uk/toolbar/ie/index.html.
