Add Three New Widgets At The Bottom Of Blogger/Blogspot Blog

You would have seen many new modified blogger templates with additional 3 widgets at the bottom (footer) of the blog, and they are very useful for bloggers, as you can place widgets like Recent posts, Recent comments, Top posts and Top commentators etc in these widgets.
It is very important to add these widgets in a blog, as when readers finish reading the post, they may immediatly leave the blog if no other interesting article is found. Moreover these widgets help new visitors to understand the blog’s main content.

So if these widgets are not present in your blog, then follow these steps to add them yourself :

First log in to Blogger.com
Go to Layout -> Click on Edit HTML tab

Now search (CTRL+F) for these code line:

<b:section class=’footer’ id=’footer’/>

REPLACE the entire red line in the above code, with this new code:

<div id=’footer2′ style=’width: 30%; float: left; margin:0; text-align: left;’>
<b:section class=’footer-column’ id=’col1′ preferred=’yes’ style=’float:left;’/>

<div id=’footer3′ style=’width: 40%; float: left; margin:0; text-align: left;’>
<b:section class=’footer-column’ id=’col2′ preferred=’yes’ style=’float:left;’/>

<div id=’footer4′ style=’width: 30%; float: right; margin:0; text-align: left;’>
<b:section class=’footer-column’ id=’col3′ preferred=’yes’ style=’float:right;’/>

<div id=’footer-bottom’ style=’text-align: center; padding: 10px; text-transform: lowercase;’>
<b:section class=’footer’ id=’col-bottom’ preferred=’yes’>
<b:widget id=’Text2′ locked=’false’ title=” type=’Text’/>
</b:section>

Now PREVIEW the template, and if no errors are displayed, then carry on:

Find this code:

</b:skin>

Then immediately BEFORE / ABOVE it, paste these lines:

#footer-column-container {
clear:both;
}

.footer-column {
padding: 10px;
}

Save the template, go to “Page Elements“, and add content to the three new widgets !

Customize Google+ Stream Layout

customize google+Google Plus is heard everywhere now. This great social networking site is expected to soon take over major social networks like Facebook. Developers everywhere are engaged in bringing more interesting codes to customize the look and feel of Google+ . I cam across an interesting Mozilla Firefox Add-on and Chrome extension created by Stylish. The code splits your Google+ homepage into two columns neatly. You will see your friends status updates in two wide columns thus making the experience more interesting. This add on can easily be installed. Just follow the easy steps below.

Split Google Plus Stream Page Into Two columns

This customization will be visible only to you and your friends can not see it but it will put a good impression on them when they connect to Plus through your personal computer. :> There is another add-on available too that will change the entire color scheme of your Google Plus account. On 6th December 2011, all old Facebook profiles in new Zealand were replaced with the new Timeline layout that displays a hierarchy of all your experiences date-wise like post updates, photos and video uploads. The activation will be applied to the remaining 800 Million accounts this month and it will be completed hopefully before the start of 2012.

Official Release Note:

On their official blog post Facebook’s Product manager stated:

UPDATE on Tuesday, December 6, 2011: Beginning Timeline Rollout in New Zealand
We announced Timeline in September and made it available to developers building apps on our platform. Since then, over a million people have signed up for the developer beta to access Timeline. The feedback we’ve received so far has been invaluable. Starting today, we are making Timeline more widely available as we measure speed and other types of performance. We’ll begin by making it available to people in New Zealand and then roll it out more broadly in the near future.The Timeline has also slowly started rolling out in Uk, USA, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It has been applied to our public profile:

How to delete it after being lunched?

Unfortunately once the launched is made official then there is no way you can remove the Timeline Feature and revert back to old Profile. Those who have Enabled the Timeline feature using the Developers page would be forced to use the new layout even if they try to remove or delete the app. There is no option available at present that lets you to use Old Facebook profile just like how Facebook changed the Chat column and provided no option to switch to old Chat layout.
If you want to enable it before the launch then read this:
Enable Facebook Timeline

This is one way to remove the Timeline using the App method which wont work for countries where timeline has already been activated.

Man I honestly hate the new layout just like any user out there! Let us know what you think of this new feature and how can you favor the new Profile look over the old. Peace pals! 🙂
