karbonn Mobiles launched their 4.5inch Smartphone this October promoting it at the Karbonn Smart Champions League T20 with a bunch of TV Advertisements; first of the Karbonn Duple Series phones- Karbonn A21. These Ads shows how we can do multi-tasking in our daily lives. I liked some of its Ads like the one showing a man playing drum while shaving. These Ads hype too much about their phone as one of the best Multi-tasking Smartphones. This phone was launched alongwith Karbonn A11, A7+. Karbonn A21 is a dual SIM smartphone. Both SIM being GSM, one supports 3G while the other 2G. It has 4.5inch Capacitive Touchscreen with a resolution of 480�800 pixels with 5 point multi touch feature. The screen is missing scratch resistant feature; but what else would you expect at this price. It runs on Android OS– v4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. The display seems to be good with 4 capacitive buttons. But Android ICS is designed to work only 3 buttons. No dedicated button for Camera. Karbonn A21 is available in a decent Pearl White color.

It has 1.2GHz Dual Core Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor which is great for multi-tasking, provided it has enough support from other features. I mean to point at its memory features. A good processor always needs a better memory support to function up to its specifications. They did not mention a word about the memory anywhere in the ads or their official website page.
Finally, I found that the RAM capacity is a mere 512MB of which 386MB is available. Well, this memory is never sufficient for high end multi-tasking even if you use The BEST Processor. This means you cannot multi-task high end apps or high end games or more than 3-4 tasks. At one point your �Multi-Tasks� stored in the RAM will have to be killed. They don�t know that multi-tasking is also related to RAM rather than just the processor, as the task (process) is stored in the RAM {link}. This is either a dumb Marketing Strategy or like fooling the Indians like the Politicians do. If it had 1GB RAM, it would have made Karbonn A21 as the best & the cheapest Multi-Tasking phone.
Karbonn A21 has 4GB internal memory of which approx 1.5GB is available for user Apps. This also has a support of external memory which could be extended up to 32GB through SD slot. Karbonn A21 has better camera. It has 5MP Rear camera along with LED flash just at the bottom of it. Front camera is 1.3MP used for Video Calling.
This phone has speakers at the lower side of the back panel. The loudspeaker is not up to the mark. Karbonn A21 is not at all meant for Music Lovers. It can record 720p videos. Playing Games with this dual core 4.5inch phone would be fun.
Karbonn A21 has 1800mAh Li-Ion battery. This is not sufficient for this phone. On average usage, it won�t even last for a day. Company specifies the talk time to be up to 5hours. Well, you need a better juice-back up to utilize features of this phone.
The better part about Karbonn A21 is its price. You won�t get such a phone at a price below Rs. 11,000. Some online stores are selling this phone up to Rs. 10,000 too. But unfortunately it is out of stock almost everywhere. Karbonn Mobiles will have to gear up their production to meet up the needs of the people.
Final Verdict:
The Karbonn A21 Review clearly shows that this phone has excellent specs excluding the RAM capacity. Also, the price tag makes this phone more interesting. Android ICS, 1.2GHz Dual-core & 4.5inch screen at Rs. 11,000 will always be a good deal. But not to forget, its RAM size is below expectations. I do recommend this phone if you don�t punch your head for it being the best Multi-tasking smartphone.
